Purpose of role 

As Insight Manager you will play an important role within the Research & Insights team, applying specialist research skills to develop our understanding of our business audiences and ensuring that this insight is effectively shared and fed into London & Partners’ strategy. You will build up a robust understanding of our markets, sectors, and business audiences in particular to encourage inbound foreign direct investment (FDI), international trade and exports, and business tourism and helping to retain London-based businesses in the capital. 

You will support the Senior Insight Manager in the execution of the insight and research strategy and use a range of resources to identify new insights.  You will champion the voice of the audience and ensure that their needs are factored into business strategy and activity. 

 

 Key tasks

  • Research & understand market, customer, sector, and other relevant information to inform decisions for London & Partners and our other stakeholders. 
  • Provide assistance to the wider business in developing strategies, campaigns and activities that are effectively targeted and tailored to the intended audience using what we already know, what we can gain from suppliers and partners and by conducting new primary and secondary research as required. 
  • Provide the business with strategic analysis on the challenges and opportunities for London for our key business audiences, ensuring that the organisation is well equipped with robust data, knowledge, and market intelligence on the subject.  
  • Lead on the research & delivery of up-to-date and accessible sector propositions, messaging documents and strategic reports (e.g. analysis of key competitor city locations) on an on-going basis to reflect latest developments, and ensure that these insights are communicated to our key internal & external audiences.
  • Lead on the delivery of prioritised, high value research requests including for our FDI/B2B clients, in-market teams, Comms & Public Affairs teams, GLA and wider stakeholder network - engaging with business teams to scope out the research brief and define the output required, conducting the research, and presenting the information in high quality outputs. 

 You'll be/have:   

  • Relevant experience in delivering business insights/market analysis across a range of sectors, using secondary and primary research techniques, intelligence monitoring, analysis, and data sources. 
  • Able to organise and analyse varied data sources and identify the most important sources of evidence; understanding of statistical techniques would be a benefit.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written; proficient in editing and presenting complex data clearly and simply in the form of reports or presentations.
  • Experience of using market research and analytical tools. This could include but is not limited to packages such as SPSS, Q, Social media monitoring tools etc. 
  • Good understanding of market research standards, quality control processes, GDPR and data protection obligations.

The salary for this role has been approved as advertised in line with our pay structure.  We will not negotiate or vary this figure upon offer or appointment.

You will also help ensure that the organisation is well equipped with robust data, knowledge and market intelligence about London and its competition and use this insight to support teams across the organisation to win and retain contestable business.

  • Help to improve how we manage and share knowledge, research, and data across the company. This includes being part of the team managing the insights knowledge portal and taking a lead role on the creation & maintenance of specific knowledge zones. Proactively seeking and sharing new external insights and reports on an ongoing basis.
  • Lead on the development of research led ‘thought leadership’ reports and content & disseminating these insights to internal & external audiences.
  • Develop mutually beneficial relationships with key stakeholder in market information suppliers and partner organisations, including the commissioning of new research when necessary.
  • Supporting the delivery of consultancy projects and income generating opportunities, working with the Senior insight Manager and project teams, plus our external partners to ensure the successful delivery of these projects. 
  • Represent L&P externally to keep abreast of important trends and insights across our sectors and markets of interest.
