It is the founder of London Tech Week and runs two award-winning programmes for start-up and scale-up companies. In a typical year, we support thousands of scaling businesses, win hundreds of events for London, book over a quarter of a million hotel beds and engage millions of visitors on our digital channels.  

Our key performance indicators are the economic growth (gross value added) and jobs that we create, the satisfaction of our clients and partners, and our commercial performance.  

Purpose of role 

The purpose of the role is to shape and deliver three flagship programmes which contribute towards London & Partners mission. The programmes are London Tech Week each June, Silicon Valley Comes to UK each November and a flagship Open Innovation cohort programme running year-round.

This is an exciting role for an individual seeking to develop his/her leadership skills in the area of Open Innovation and technology.  The individual will convene senior business leaders in innovation and connect them to influencers across the London ecosystem.  The individual will also lead a dynamic team to curate high impact events and workshops to showcase technologies that are changing our world for the better.

Key Tasks 

  • Develop a coherent, multi-year strategy for the two flagship events (LTW and SVC2UK) which is aligned to London & Partners’ mission and outcomes.
  • Lead the delivery of SVC2UK: lead the team to curate a high profile and high impact summit each November, securing high quality international speakers and ensuring the content builds on the success from previous years.
  • To lead the team to deliver a successful Beyond HERizons SVC2UK programme for a cohort of 15 female founders to raise investment.
  • Ensure that all programme costs are managed within budget, to meet business plan.

The salary for this role has been approved as advertised in line with our pay structure.  We will not negotiate or vary this figure upon offer or appointment.

    • Set objectives and targets for the three programmes, and to measure progress against them.
  • Content curation and event production
    • Lead the delivery of SVC2UK: lead the team to curate a high profile and high impact summit each November, securing high quality international speakers and ensuring the content builds on the success from previous years.
    • To lead the team to deliver a successful Beyond HERizons SVC2UK programme for a cohort of 15 female founders to raise investment.
    • Lead London & Partners’ involvement in London Tech Week: leading on London & Partners contribution to the content of key events, media outreach and hosting of international delegates.
    • Lead on programming for Open Innovation: Lead the team to successfully recruit Fellows for the programme and deliver a high impact series of modules.
  • Commercial
    • Ensure that all programme costs are managed within budget, to meet business plan.
    • Ensure there are effective financial and administrative procedures, processes and policies operating across the team.
  • Stakeholder and partner management
    • Lead the relationship with the academic partner and any other delivery partners, for the Open Innovation Programme.
    • Lead the relationship with delivery partners in Oxford and Cambridge, and any London delivery partners for SVC2UK.
    • Develop and manage relationships with sponsors for SVC2UK ensuring that the events meet their objectives.
  • Networking, influence and reputation
    • Represent London & Partners at senior level at external meetings with stakeholders, partners and business leaders.
    • Build senior networks of influencers, advocates, speakers, sponsors and clients to support the three programmes.
    • Speak on behalf of London & Partners at relevant external events to grow our reputation in the tech industry in London and internationally.
  • Leadership
    • Inspire, manage and motivate the Innovation Programmes team.
    • Contribute towards leadership and culture across London & Partners as part of the Heads community.

Competences and Skills 

 

  • Extensive corporate network across diverse sectors and experience engaging with senior leaders within these organisations.
  • Understanding and knowledge of open innovation
  • Understanding and/ or experience of corporate barriers to innovation
  • Experience of managing and developing a diverse team within a Senior Management role
