Senior Inward Investment Manager, FDI

Purpose of role 

 

The role is to deliver urban sector FDI projects. You will be working closely with our international teams to help identify, nurture and persuade companies to choose London for their international expansions. 

Contribute to the sector work and where relevant taking a lead on sub-sectors. 

 

Key Tasks 

 

  • Deliver FDI wins for London to achieve output targets, contributing Gross Value Add (GVA) to the overall Business Directorate target.  
  • Work closely with the international teams, to help nurture, develop and then successfully convert inward investment projects into wins
  • Undertake any other projects or special assignments which may from time to time be required, including deputising for the FDI Sector Lead/Head  

  

You'll be/have: 

 

  • Education: degree level or equivalent professional experience. 
  • Demonstrable track record of success in an international business environment, preferably in a trade or investment role.  
  •  A clear, engaging and articulate communicator, able to convey a motivating and compelling sense of purpose, direction and success to key stakeholders.

The salary for this role has been approved as advertised in line with our pay structure.  We will not negotiate or vary this figure upon offer or appointment.

Key tasks  

  • Deliver FDI wins for London to achieve output targets, contributing Gross Value Add (GVA) to the overall Business Directorate target.  
  • Work closely with the international teams, to help nurture, develop and then successfully convert inward investment projects into wins by:  
  • Adding and advising on bespoke client propositions, discussions and meetings, supporting the international teams. 
  • Sharing in depth sector knowledge and expertise, as well as access to networks such as industry leaders, trade bodies, universities and other centres of sector excellence  
  • Developing and delivering bespoke visit programmes for companies and their senior representatives which includes chairing face to face meetings  
  • Monitoring and inputting into the CRM sales pipeline, contributing to accurate sector and company reporting  
  • Contribute to and occasionally lead on relevant urban events and initiatives, working closely with colleagues across the wider urban matrix team, including occasional speaking engagements 
  • Undertake any other projects or special assignments which may from time to time be required, including deputising for the FDI Sector Lead/Head

Skills & Competencies 

 

Skills  

  • Education: degree level or equivalent professional experience. 
  • Demonstrable track record of success in an international business environment, preferably in a trade or investment role.  
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office suite of products.   
  • Knowledge of CRMs would be an advantage.  
  • Knowledge of a foreign language would be an advantage. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of the urban innovation space, including but not limited to smart mobility, cleantech, proptech and govtech would be an advantage.
