Business Development & Marketing Intern - Europe

Background

London & Partners is the business growth and destination agency for London. Our mission is to create economic growth that is resilient, sustainable and inclusive.

We are a social enterprise, combining purpose with commercial rigour. We are funded by grants, partners and our portfolio of commercial ventures.

We support high-growth businesses to scale – both international businesses expanding into the UK and London-based businesses growing internationally. We develop London as a destination and attract visitors and events. We grow London’s global reputation to support economic growth. We create partnerships and profit-making ventures that enable us to scale our impact.

London & Partners operates brands including VisitLondon and the top-level-domain DotLondon. It is the founder of London Tech Week and runs two award-winning programmes for start-up and scale-up companies. In a typical year, we support thousands of scaling businesses, win hundreds of events for London, book over a quarter of a million hotel beds and engage millions of visitors on our digital channels.

Our key performance indicators are the economic growth (gross value added) and jobs that we create, the satisfaction of our clients and partners, and our commercial performance.

Purpose of role

The London & Partners Europe team is seeking interns for a period of 3 months in their Berlin office, with possible extension to six months, over the next 12-month period

You will learn about the work of London & Partners, London’s international trade, investment and promotion agency. In particular, you will run social media channels, research business leads, help organise events, gain insight into the workings for the British diplomatic missions in Europe, in particular the Department for International Trade (DIT) and you will have the opportunity to network directly with a wide range of London and European companies and officials.

Key Tasks

Market Research

You will regularly participate in market research tasks, both on a regular and ad hoc basis. The regular research will consist of desk research on potential leads and clients, where you will qualify their relevance and share your work with the rest of the team. Importantly, much of your research will involve markets additional to Germany ((i.e. Switzerland, the Netherlands, Spain and Sweden), and will see you provide insights into the tech ecosystem, stakeholders and clients. There will be a chance to build up knowledge of these ecosystems and help develop a strategic outreach approach.

Social Media

You will organise and manage the day-to-day operation of all social media channels. Alongside the Business Development Associate, you will develop, plan and create content and grow our social media network and presence. Equally, you will ‘trans-create’ social media messaging provided from the London Headquarters, so that it is suitable for our European audiences. You will also help the team in ‘social listening’, understanding what our audiences are talking about and sharing on social channels to their networks, and using this insight to help direct our social efforts. Any other European languages is therefore an advantage.

Sales Support

You will assist with general sales administration and management by maintaining the CRM system, assisting in client presentations and keeping the finances up-to-date for the office.

Support Lead Generation & Event Management

You will contact and engage with appropriate targets in order to secure meetings with established companies in all sectors: ICT, creative, life sciences, healthcare, energy, gaming, retail, entertainment, financial services, etc.

You'll bring/have

Skills and competencies

  • Education: University student
  • London/UK: knowledge, experience and passion for London is highly desirable
  • IT: knowledge of internet, Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint is necessary.
  • Languages: English (fluent), any other European languages an advantage.

You’ll Get

  • To join a Sunday Times Top 100 not-for-profit company and a fast paces, flexible and upbeat environment
  • To become part of the London Family and do great things for our City

London's diversity is its biggest asset. At London & Partners, we aim to ensure our workforce reflects the diversity of the city that we promote. We encourage applications from people of any age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation or assignment, faith or disability.  We also appreciate that many people require flexibility in their working patterns and encourage you to talk to us at interview about any flexibility you may need, be it full-time, job-share, or part-time.

If you need to receive this information and/or apply in an alternative format, please contact London & Partners by emailing hr@londonandpartners.com to discuss how we can help.

We encourage applications from all sections of the community.

Part of the functions performed within this job description are funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
