Specific Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm (part-time also considered)

Community Health & Engagement Officer

We have an exciting opportunity for a Community Health & Engagement Officer to join our Barnet and Brent Community Equipment Service Centre based in Park Royal.

We work closely with NHS, Local Authority and Social Care Organisations providing a complete outsourced service that significantly reduces costs, delivers better quality and an enhanced patient experience.

Our community equipment ranges from simple walking frames and crutches to more complex equipment such as beds, hoists and pressure care equipment. We also carry out minor adaptations such as the installation of handrails and grab rails within which can make a significant impact in giving people the confidence to live more independently. 

As the Community Health and Engagement Officer you will create and manage a stakeholder relationship plan to ensure all key stakeholders are engaged and play an active role in the service provision. You will oversee service quality assurance procedures, recruiting a service users board, manage complaints process and support ongoing service improvement activities.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Implement and develop the Community Strategy as part of the identified campaigns and workload assigned by the Service Centre Manager
  • Lead and coordinate the delivery of our Engagement Strategy
  • Attend and participate in major and minor engagement events and co-ordinating media activity
  • Coordinate and facilitate media responses and liaise with relevant personnel in relation to complaints or engagement events
  • Offer advice and support in dealing with complaints including meeting with complainants to help deliver timely and effective resolutions
  • Monitor and manage all social media accounts associated with the Barnet and Brent Community Equipment Service
  • Organise, promote and support engagement events locally
  • Create and produce press releases and features to the media in relation to the engagement events
  • Communicate the Engagement Strategy to existing staff, volunteers and service users, engaging all in the delivery of activities

What are we looking for?

  • Proven experience of working within a health or social care setting including working with vulnerable people
  • Working knowledge of social and medical models of disability, and how they would impact on the delivery of this type of service
  • Experience of planning and decision making
  • Experience of managing multiple workstreams with ability to prioritise and organise work effectively
  • Good interpersonal skills, including demonstrable knowledge and practice of customer care including conflict management
  • Understanding of clinical governance and outcome measures
  • Marketing/PR experience would be advantageous 
  • HCPC registered therapist is highly desirable
  • Understanding of research and audit processes advantageous
  • A UK driving licence is essential
