Occupational Therapist Band 6

We are currently looking for Occupational Therapists to join the team withing our new Essex Technology Enabled Care (TEC) Service Centre based in Chelmsford. 

Millbrook Healthcare work in partnership with the NHS to supply the necessary healthcare equipment and aids to support people in their day to day life. This TEC service provides the initial assessment of service users’ care technology needs all the way through to installation, ongoing maintenance and review of equipment. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Providing assessment support, information, advice and evidence-based practice leading to the effective installation of Technology Enabled Care (TEC) equipment
  • Support culture change programs through providing peer-to- peer training on the benefits of TEC
  • To provide a second line clinical and coaching support for TEC Technicians and Managers where complex circumstances arise
  • Work in collaboration with the TEC Product Manager to identify new forms of technology and present benefits to TEC Review Groups
  • Undertake assessment for equipment needs of service users with a variety of physical, cognitive, sensory and/or learning disabilities both in person or remotely 
  • Make recommendations on TEC required within the homes of service users, which will appropriately meet their long-term needs and those of their carers
  • Provide safeguarding, clinical triage and escalation routes for service users where necessary
  • Work closely with Prescriber's to promote effective partnership working across Adult Social Care, Therapy Services, Community Nursing, Domiciliary Care Agencies, Housing and other agencies as required

What are we looking for?

  • A BSc degree in Occupational Therapy 
  • Current HCPC professional registration 
  • Full UK driving licence 
  • Previous experience of working as an Occupational Therapist with patients with long-term and deteriorating medical conditions, including palliative care and an understanding of the impact of these conditions on patient’s lives
  • Experience of undertaking holistic assessments
  • Relevant post qualifying experience within a community/hospital setting is desirable
  • Previous experience of delivering education & training courses would be beneficial
  • Knowledge of TEC equipment would be advantageous
