Hub Officer

Internal Role Title: Hub Officer (Kent)

Hours: 2 vacancies x 7 hours per week. Ideally, 3.30pm to 7pm, Thursday and Friday (there may be some flexibility) – youth sessions run 4pm to 6pm during school terms. School holiday programmes differ and hours will be agreed during day time.

Location: Stanhope, Ashford

We’re looking for 2 individuals to support the delivery of activities within our Stanhope hub, working with young people and adults in the local community. You’ll join us in promoting opportunities for customers that create thriving communities across Moat’s regions and enable positive change through community and customer engagement.

You’ll work collaboratively with the existing Hub Officer and wider Moat Foundation Team to increase awareness and engagement in local activities for Moat residents in our Hubs.

You’ll predominantly work in our Stanhope Hub, based in Ashford, delivering activities in the early evening for young people during school terms and day time activities during school holidays. On some occasions, you may be required to attend our other Kent hub activity sessions in Gillingham or Sittingbourne to provide cover so would ideally be able to travel. If using own car (with appropriate insurance for business use), a car allowance of £454 per annum will be paid.

You’ll be:

  • Delivering a series of engaging, outcome focused activities for Moat customers within our hubs and surrounding areas. This may include sessions for children and young people, adults, and older customers.
  • Identifying collaborative opportunities, informing, and supporting the Moat Foundation Team Leader to bring new resources to the hubs.
  • Working with the Moat Foundation Team to constantly improve our Social Value offer for our customers, delivering proven benefits for customers and Moat.
  • Carrying out all duties in accordance with Moat’s:

  • Carrying out any other duties consistent with the post that may be required from time to time, at the discretion of the line manager.

We are on the lookout for someone who has:

  • An ability to engage children, young people and adults, being able to listen, empathise, support and guide their engagement in Hub activities.
  • An ability to communicate effectively to a range of audiences in written form and orally.
  • A community and youth work certificate, or similar relevant qualification or experience.
  • A good standard of numeracy and literacy, including computer literacy with aptitude to learn and use MS Office, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • An ability to work on own initiative and maintain reporting data.
  • Experience of being innovative in delivery and be able to personalise approach to target specific issues in the community where we work.
  • Able to travel between Hubs, ideally with access to own car that can be insured with appropriate business use.
  • An ability to undertake work outside of normal office hours to meet the needs of the business, including evenings and weekends.
  • An understanding of legislation and policy relating to resident involvement issues, supported by practical experience, especially confidentiality, privacy, and safeguarding.
  • A broad awareness of issues likely to affect Moat’s residents.
  • Event and activity planning experience.

In addition, the following would be beneficial but aren’t essential:

  • An understanding of working in a large organisation.
  • A sound knowledge of tenant participation options, activities and good practice.
  • An understanding of recording data.
