Role Title: Rent Finance Team Leader

Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday-Friday

As Rent Finance Team Leader, you'll lead and develop a team of three colleagues while overseeing the day-to-day delivery of the rents finance function. A key part of the role will be ensuring the accuracy, integrity and quality of financial data across our housing management and finance systems. Through effective controls, reconciliations and process improvements, you'll help ensure our records remain robust, compliant and trusted, supporting excellent service delivery for our customers and colleagues alike.

We support agile working, so you’ll be provided all IT equipment to work flexibly between your home, and our Dartford office.

Your key tasks will include:

  • Ensuring customer rent & sundry accounts are accurate and up to date at all times, including posting receipts, charges and adjustments, while maintaining the integrity of customer financial records.
  • Ensuring that all requests for changes to the property database, including customer movements, new properties, disposal of properties (staircasing, Social Homebuy, Right to Buy/Acquire, stock disposal transactions), are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring that statements are distributed to customers in line with Moat’s current policy.
  • Ensuring the accurate and timely reconciliation of the housing management system interface postings with the accounting system, investigating discrepancies and ensuring data accuracy across all systems.
  • Consulting with Housing Management and IT on issues involving the operation and development of the housing and rents finance systems and procedures.
  • Monitoring the data quality of changes to the housing management system and ensuring appropriate supporting documentation is obtained, with a focus on maintaining accurate, complete and auditable records.
  • Monitoring the performance of the rents finance team against agreed targets, including the production of monthly activity reports.
  • Continuously review existing practices and systems and implement improvements.
  • Taking ownership of data integrity within the rents finance function, carrying out regular reviews, identifying and resolving data quality issues, and implementing controls and process improvements to ensure the accuracy and reliability of customer and financial information.
  • Leading, supporting and developing a team of three colleagues, monitoring performance against agreed targets and producing monthly activity reports.
  • Performing any other duties consistent with the post that may be required from time to time, at the discretion of the line manager.

You’ll have:

  • Good standard of education, with numeracy in particular.
  • Basic knowledge of functions in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Awareness of the regulations governing the collection of monies using Direct Debits.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of the operation of the financial aspects of a housing management system.
  • Awareness of the main features of different tenancy agreements and leases, and the regulations governing allowable charges under them.
