As our Senior Data Protection Adviser, you'll be the go-to expert across Moat, leading on all aspects of data privacy. From guiding complex data sharing agreements and conducting DPIAs, to advising on cutting-edge projects and managing breaches, you'll ensure we stay compliant, confident and always one step ahead.

You’ll lead strategic initiatives, influence at senior levels, and embed a culture where data protection is everyone’s responsibility.

What you’ll be doing

  • Provide expert leadership on data protection, advising teams across the business.
  • Lead privacy elements of strategic programmes and deliver structured DPIAs.
  • Manage DSARs and data breaches with professionalism, urgency and care.
  • Maintain accurate records and registers to demonstrate robust compliance.
  • Draft and review policies, guidance and data sharing agreements.
  • Monitor and interpret legislative changes, ensuring Moat stays ahead of risk.
  • Train and upskill staff at all levels – including other data professionals.
  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and project teams.
  • Drive a proactive, privacy-by-design approach to new initiatives.
  • Champion data protection awareness across the organisation.

What we’re looking for

You’ll be a confident, proactive professional with a deep understanding of data protection law, and the ability to translate it into clear, actionable guidance.

You’ll need:

  •  Significant, demonstrable experience working in a senior data protection role in a complex organisation, at DPO level for some of your experience
  • Expert-level knowledge of the UK GDPR, DPA 2018, and related laws
  • A recognised data protection qualification (e.g., CIPP/E, BCS)
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Strong project and policy development experience

Desirable Extras:

  •  Experience mentoring other data professionals
  • Familiarity with ISO 27001 and wider data governance practices
  • Knowledge of privacy risks in emerging tech (AI, biometrics, cloud)
