To assist in the safe, efficient running of the home by undertaking general and routine maintenance of the buildings, fixtures, fittings and grounds, and completing timely compliance checks.
Responsibility for compliance checks and all minor maintenance jobs within the home as indicated by the Administrator or Home Manager.
Inspect and maintain the home’s fixtures, fittings and equipment i.e. lighting, lift plant, boilers, water softeners, fire alarm system, portable appliances. Maintain regular up to date records and a day to day maintenance and repair manual.
Carry out and record a monthly stock-take of all maintenance equipment, eg. light bulbs.
Carry out regular and timely Health and Safety inspections and make regular report of findings to Health & Safety committee.
Maintain the safety of the external hard landscaping, treating algae and ice as necessary.
Keep all tools used and equipment in good working order, advising the Administrator of any repairs, replacements and servicing requirements. Keep plant rooms clean and in good order.
Drive the Company vehicle locally make regular collections/deliveries as required.
Assist with the movement of furniture and equipment and the putting away of heavy stores.
Check wheelchairs monthly and record defects.
Assist in ensuring the security of all residents and the premises through the observance of security procedures and the challenging of any strangers in the Home.
Assist housekeeper in carpet care programme.
Together with the Gardener, maintain fences, summerhouses and garden furniture in good order.
Take personal responsibility in becoming fully aware of Health and Safety at Work Policies, in particular Fire Procedures, Control of Infection, COSHH and Lifting and Handling.
Attend staff meetings and training courses as required.
Responsibility for verification of maintenance invoices.
Any other reasonable duties as may be required by Home Manager.
