Due to the continued success of Network Rail Consulting we are looking to recruit another 6-month secondment for a Safety and Environmental Manager with a view to becoming a 2 year assignment in January 2020.

Please note this vacancy will be based in Saudi Arabia working for Network Rail Consulting Saudi Limited and include a relocation package as well as potential for tax free earnings if the position continues.

With over 2,750 km on two main lines the North-South Railway in Saudi Arabia is currently one of the largest railway projects under construction worldwide.

SAR is a private company, created by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) to develop and operate the project. Aware of the impact that the growth of its business and asset base will have in the level of complexity of its operations, SAR has decided to seek an international, best-in-class railway operator to broaden and enhance the capabilities of its organisation

We will be looking for experienced people to take up key positions within SAR’s organization to manage the business in the short term, to assure the provision of safe and high quality service in an efficient way.

  • Have the ability to embrace and understand different concepts and be able to identify the extent to which they would be applicable within a Network Rail context; and

Key Responsibilities:

The Safety & Environment Manager is responsible (but not limited to) for the management of all safety and environment related activities including (but not limited to) the definition and management of standards, implementation of reporting mechanism, compliance management to relevant safety, quality and environmental safety standards.

Key Competencies

Essential:

  • Minimum Years of Relevant Experience 10 years;
  • Safety & Environment Manager with experience in managing all safety and environment activities in the rail sector;
  • Successful implementation of compliance management to relevant safety standards, and auditing of others;
  • Implementation, monitoring, review and updating of quality and environmental safety standards;
  • Provision of functional support and professional expertise on all health and safety matters, and mentoring others;
  • Leading periodic meetings with stakeholders to share and promulgate best practice and lessons learnt;
  • Leading on inspection and monitoring of the safety and environmental performance of projects;
  • Implementing continuous improvement in relation to health and safety;
  • Supporting project teams in the investigation of accidents and incidents and in the implementation of corrective actions;
  • Experience in the application of RAMs processes, Common Safety Methods and Risk Assessment Techniques; and
  • Support development and implementation of health, safety, quality & environmental management systems

 

Desirable:

  • Degree qualification;
  • Chartered Engineer;
  • Membership of a professional body, and
  • Environmental lead auditor (ISO 14001).
