NRC ANZ has been awarded a contract by Transport for NSW (TfNSW) for the role of Systems Integrator for the Digital Systems Program for Sydney, a core element of “More Trains, More Services” to deliver major systems upgrades across the Sydney Trains’ network over the next decade.

The Digital Systems Program will replace existing signalling and train control systems with modern, internationally proven intelligent technology to enable more trains on track and therefore a higher frequency of reliable services for Sydney Trains’ customers. This role will play a key part within the Digital Systems Project.

Your New Role 

The role requires demonstrable credentials in the rail industry, principally to develop and support rail business advisory services providing advice to clients with a focus on Safety and Systems Assurance. The Managing Consultant will provide consultancy services for clients on safety management, safety audit programs, assess and report on the efforts and capability of clients' operating divisions to best meet their business needs and is responsible for the efficient and cost effective management of projects.

This role will suit an individual with strong background in developing and implement safety assurance audit procedures and safety audit programs, producing safety and risk management reports. Experience in RAM planning, modelling and reporting. Experience of CENELEC Standards, EN50126, EN50128 and EN50129 and iESM, CSM or equivalents. Ability to promptly investigate safety related issues and recommend the implementation of corrective actions.   

The Managing Consultant Safety and Systems Assurance will provide consultancy services for clients on safety management, safety audit programs, assess and report on the efforts and capability of clients' operating divisions to best meet their business needs and is responsible for the efficient and cost effective management of projects.

  • Safety processes / SIL Determination / Safety Integrity
  • Safety Risk Management
  • RAMS
  • Safety Management Systems
  • Audit and Independent Safety Assessments
  • Undertaking qualitative and quantitative risk assessments
  • Safety Case Development
  • Writing and reviewing technical reports
  • Maintaining knowledge of industry trends, regulations and standards in area of specialism

What we are looking from you...

  • Degree qualified safety professional or equivalent demonstrable experience with 5 years in System Assurance
  • Experience of CENELEC Standards, EN50126, EN50128 and EN50129 and iESM, CSM or equivalent
  • Good communication skills to interface with clients and internal stakeholders
  • Ability to develop and implement safety assurance audit procedures and safety audit programs, producing safety and risk management reports
  • Ability to promptly investigate safety related issues and recommend the implementation of corrective actions
  • Develop databases capturing safety occurrences and safety audit reports
  • Conduct safety system assessments and compliance audits for clients
  • Ensure all safety activities are conducted in compliance with relevant administrative, financial and corporate governance requirements
  • Ability to develop and maintain systems of internal reporting that support a client's company financial performance modelling and data for safety and audit activities
  • Undertaking qualitative and quantitative risk assessments
  • Experience to include pre-construction and post contract construction stages
  • Embrace and pro-actively practice the company's core values and adhere to the company's code of conduct
  • Prior experience of working in the rail sector & knowledge and understanding of rolling stock
