We have an exciting 12 month opportunity based in our UK Headquarters in our brand new offices in Waterloo.

Your Role

Working inside a dynamic, fast paced SME, you will need to be able to come into this role and collaborate with a supportive team within a hard working culture. Your role will primarily include the supporting delivery of all external reporting (statutory and regulatory) and responsible for central business unit accounting.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Produce initial drafts of the group consolidation for year end and interim accounts, and produce and update the final financial statements and regulatory accounts.
  2. Calculate corporate balances, including pensions charge and deficit, insurance prepayments and accruals and interest projections.
  3. Assist in balance sheet review planning and follow up.
  4. Prepare and analyse the group’s debt position, including forex and hedge accounting, revaluing to market and hedge effectiveness testing.
  5. Undertake accounting for all entities including holding company and overseas subsidiaries the Corporate  Units, including consolidation of budgets, forecasts
  6. Analyse movements in the Regulated Asset Base and report renewals and enhancement expenditure, revaluation and impairment within the access charges review framework.
  7. Produce quarterly management information pack for distribution to Executive Team
  8. Assist in development and implementation of process improvement initiatives including liasing with third part ERP provider.

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Essential

  • Qualified Accountant (preferably ACA)

Business knowledge:

  • Experience of an international consultancy
  • Experience of an SME company
  • Interest in Rail

  Direct production and review of:

  • Statutory accounts
  • Management accounts
  • Budgeting
  • Forecasting
  • KPIs
  • Balance Sheet reconciliations

 Indirect production and review in conjunction with Advisors of:

  • Tax
  • Hedge accounting
  • Regulatory reporting

  Systems knowledge:

  • BST ERP (preferable but not essential)
  • Excel to higher than advance standard, ie working knowledge of editing macros
  • PowerPoint to advanced standard
  • Word to advanced standard
