Private Client Tax Accountant  

Nockolds Solicitors Limited is a progressive, award winning, leading regional Law Firm with offices in Bishop’s Stortford, London and Spain.  Due to our continued expansion, we are now looking to recruit a Tax Accountant to service the needs of a growing private client team.  The position will be based in our Bishop’s Stortford office with opportunities to work from our city office and, in the longer term the Spanish office. 

The successful candidate will supervise and work within a team who work closely with solicitors and partners in the Wills and Probate Team providing expert tax advice to high-net-worth individuals, family trusts and estates.  You will also lead in expanding tax-related services for clients on property transactions and family matters. 

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Advising private clients, trustees and executors on tax matters, including income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax to include advise on tax efficient strategies 
  • Preparing and reviewing tax returns for individuals, trusts and estates, experience of using Iris Software would be desirable  
  • Developing and expanding the tax services offered by the tax team 
  • Keeping up to date with tax legislation relevant to private client, property and family work 
  • Be able to prepare Trust Accounts using spreadsheets and have a good understanding of double entry bookkeeping to Trial Balance  
  • Be able to prepare Estate Accounts using Bespoke Software  
  • Development of internal and external tax guidance and resources 

Applicants must have CTA, STEP, ACA or ACCA qualifications and at least five years’ PQE in private client tax.  Exposure to tax aspects of family law and / or cross border private client tax experience is desirable.  You will have a strong client service ethos and ability to build trusted relationships and must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work independently but be able to manage the challenges of working within a team environment and to deadlines.  

The ideal candidate will have an interest in supervising staff members and training and development. We are looking for someone who is comfortable in leading projects across teams and who can win the confidence of other team members and clients accordingly the role needs some leadership and entrepreneurial behaviour albeit with the support and encouragement of existing team and leadership.
