Receptionist - Harpenden Centre For Dentistry

We are currently looking to recruit a Receptionist at the Hertfordshire Centre for Dentistry, which is a modern, well equipped and computerised Private Dental Referral Centre based in the centre of Harpenden.

You will be the first line of contact for our patients and as such we need our reception team to deliver the highest standards of performance. You will be answering calls, booking appointments and taking payments as well as managing the diaries of many different dental professionals.
This role will be responsible for the delivery of high quality customer service to ensure that all patients have a pleasant and efficient experience from first to final contact with the Centre. The position is a key member of the non-clinical team and will proactively implement policies and procedures to ensure continual improvement of service which will encourage our patients to recommend us to others.

Job Role
Manage the efficient day-to-day operation of the clinical aspects of the Centre with particular focus on Patient Care, Team Member Development and Administration.  Liaise with line manager to agree personal objectives and development areas. Provide feedback to your line manager about operational issues.  Share best Centre with management and non-clinical team.

Assist with the induction and training of all team members as required. Share best Centre amongst colleagues and pass upwards ideas for altering ways of working. Attend and participate in Centre meetings.

Welcome all patients into the Centre in a friendly yet professional manner. Ensure all telephone calls are answered using the company’s telephone standards. Ensure computer/written records are accurately maintained and securely stored

Ensure that patient records are completed correctly before filing and store them in an efficient, tidy and secure manner. Complete and return payment forms for NHS and private schemes within a specified timescale. Encourage prompt payments and chase outstanding debts according to the Centre policy. Send out patient recalls. Undergo training as may be required to develop your skills and abilities. Attend refresher and update training for medical emergencies and CPR. Act in accordance with the Centre rules and code of conduct. Cashing up, reconciliation of days takings and banking of funds. Incoming post.

IT, Stock & Equipment

Order new stock supplies as necessary. Keep all non-clinical areas and all equipment as clean and tidy appropriate according to the Centre’s health and safety and infection control procedures and manufacturers' instructions. Use all equipment and machinery in accordance with manufacturers' recommendations and ensure that they are maintained regularly and in good working order. Carry out or organise routine planned preventative maintenance of all equipment within the Centre.

Health and Safety
Ensure all health and safety requirements are carried out in full reporting any issues to line management as required. Ensure full understanding of the requirements of the individual under Health and Safety legislation.

Additional Responsibilities
Any reasonable additional tasks as requested by a member of line management.  Work at other Centre locations from time to time as required. Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures. Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behaviour in completing job duties and assignments.

Essential Experience/Qualifications:
GCSE Grade C or above in Maths, English and Science (or equivalent). Of good character  The ability to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English. Flexible and reliable with a "can do" attitude. Demonstrable evidence of personal development. Good IT Skills – good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Desirable Experience:
Ability to learn quickly. Experience of working in a fast paced environment. Recent experience of formal education in a school, college, university or professional setting.
