Central Bank Support Worker (British Sign Language)

The Percy Hedley Foundation has three main sites providing specialist education, adult day services and residential care to our service users. Our sites are based in Forest Hall, Killingworth, and Jesmond.

The Role
We are looking for people who are passionate about providing excellent care and support, and who hold a British Sign Language qualification to provide flexible support to our independent living service in Spital Tongues.
The property is a 2 bedroom home located in a residential area in Newcastle, a short walk from the City Centre, St James Park, the Town Moore and Leazes Park as well as local transport services which opens up the whole of the North East to the people we support. There is also parking available.
Our BSL Independent Supported Living scheme is a home for 2 young individuals who are leaving college and require support with everyday living tasks, cooking, cleaning, organising fun social activities, support to health appointments and to live as independently as possible.
Working as part of a team you will possess excellent interpersonal skills, with a high standard of written and verbal communication skills. Previous experience working within a similar setting would be desirable but not essential, as you will be fully supported and provided with all the training that you need. Due to the demands of the service, we are looking for candidates who hold a BSL qualification.
A flexible working approach is essential as bank positions are required to provide cover as and when needed - the hours and days will vary according to the needs of the service. You will also have to opportunities to support into our other services including residential settings, day services and schools.
