General Maintenance Operative

We are pleased to announce we have an exciting opportunity here at Potens for a General Maintenance Operative in the Teesside area.

As a maintenance operative, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, or fixing a variety of things internally and externally at the buildings Potens operate within.

The properties are a mixture of offices, residential, supported living services, and schools, for both youths & adults with learning disabilities and / or Mental Health diagnosis.

What you’ll be doing:

Duties may include but not limited to:

  • Painting and Decorating tasks - full rooms and areas
  • Joinery tasks- Skirting boards, Door installation, Flat pack furniture  
  • Opening and locking up services- Support with wider teams
  • Supporting Regional staff with Legislative task – Emergency Lighting testing
  • Collecting and delivering products - Flat Pack Furniture
  • Repairing roofing and guttering, cleaning RWP downspouts and alike
  • Hanging doors and fitting skirting boards
  • Repairing or rebuilding walls
  • Fitting kitchens and bathrooms, or remodelling parameters
  • Maintain the external grounds - Gardening, jet washing etc.
  • Tiling walls and floors
  • Undertaking small plumbing repairs and minor electrical tasks, new lamps, or fuses
  • Performing checks on security and fire appliances - Including empty properties
  • Masonry work on external walls or steps, laying slabs, erecting fences, laying vinyl flooring, glazing, and replacing glass.
  • Removals and transport support
  • Due to the complexity of some of our service users nominal working hours are (9:00am -17:00pm. However, flexibility is needed.
  • some cross regional travel and support will be required in line with business changes and needs.
