An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Finance Directorate for a Portfolio Senior Analyst. This is a key position within the Balance Sheet Management (BSM) function, focusing on deal execution and contributing to our broader balance sheet optimisation initiatives.

You’ll play a pivotal role in implementing hedging, investment, and liquidity management strategies, ensuring all activity aligns with dealing mandates and regulatory requirements. This role offers the chance to work in a dynamic environment where your insights will directly influence strategic decisions across Treasury and Finance.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Support the Hedging Forum by producing and developing data that enhances the measurement and monitoring of strategies across value and earnings.
  • Execute interest rate risk hedging in line with the ALCO-agreed rate view and risk appetite.
  • Contribute to the Investment Forum, providing analysis to inform decisions around the Liquid Asset Buffer and executing investment opportunities as they arise.
  • Manage daily liquidity, cashflow and collateral positions, ensuring the Society meets its financial and regulatory obligations.
  • Apply market and economic analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with banks, brokers, and money market counterparties.
  • Maintain Bank of England facilities, ensuring continuous dealer and authoriser access.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of key systems, such as the Treasury Management System and Bloomberg.

About You

You’ll bring a combination of strong analytical ability, market insight, and attention to detail, with the confidence to contribute to key Treasury and Finance discussions.

  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills, particularly with external financial partners.
  • Sound judgement when analysing and distributing key information.
  • Willingness to improve skills and knowledge though continuous professional development

Experience:

  • Previous experience within a Finance or Treasury function.
  • Understanding of treasury asset/liability portfolios and bank/building society balance sheets.
  • Experience in derivative, investment or wholesale market trade execution (desirable).
  • Strong understanding of market and economic principles.
  • Knowledge of Asset and Liability Management (ALM) techniques and practices.
