Application Support Engineer

How you'll make a difference

As an Application Support Engineer you’ll be part of a team responsible for management and maintenance of the Society’s Application Estate and will be responsible for the Platform(s), including upgrades, performance tuning and maintenance tasks/administration as required.

The role demands excellent communication and organisation skills and you will work collaboratively with the application user communities and supporting IT teams. The role is hands on and will require you to manage and troubleshoot complex application problems and contribute to the design and roadmap of the platforms.

 

In addition, you will provide application support and expertise to our user communities and be the focal point for any support/operational issues that need escalation and will liaise with 3rd party support as required.

 

What you’ll be bringing to the role

  • Provide Technical Support to IT & Business colleagues for in house developed and 3rd party software applications
  • Configuration, Monitoring & Maintenance of application platforms, including user account management, platform upgrades, data source management
  • Delivery of best practice in use of tools in test and production environments
  • Ensure Platforms / Data meet compliance policies for Data Retention & Data Security

 

What we’re looking for

  • Demonstrable experience of software Application Support (ideally in the Financial Services sector)
  • Knowledge of applications developed in .Net and SQL and  3rd party solutions such as SAS, SUN, Quantum, DSX, etc.
  • Experience in application administration & related Infrastructure (Windows Server/Desktop, SQL Infrastructure)
  • A confident communicator, with the passion and empathy to engage others across the business on the value of data in unlocking business value
