We are recruiting Data Engineers who will have responsibility for the development, testing, delivery, and ongoing usage of Principality’s cloud Data & Analytics platform.

The purpose of the Data Engineers is to work together with the Platform Lead and Senior Data Engineer to develop the technical vision and roadmap for our data platform, driving the development of the data platform ensuring alignment of the platform vision with the broader goals of our business and IT strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the architects, subject matter exports, and department leaders to understand, analyse, build and deliver new a new data platform as a service.
  • Deliver efficient and effective data engineering outcomes to meet business needs, employing range of modelling techniques and language skills to ensure both consistency and best fit.
  • Promotes good governance through use of metadata tooling and techniques, and data profiling to drive trust and transparency in the Society’s data.
  • Contributes to the translation of data into valuable insights that inform decisions, alongside resources from architecture, governance, analytics and business product owner communities.

 

Technical skills we are looking for:

  • Data Quality Management tools & platforms (e.g. Experian Pandora or similar) 
  • Experience of data integration and modelling for big data architectures 
  • Proficiency in Open Source (eg Python, R) and Proprietary (eg SSIS) languages and tools 
  • Data Analysis / Querying (e.g. MS SQL or similar)
  • Confident working with a variety of types and grain of data (customer, transactional, financial, digital, reference), preferably in financial services context 

The ideal applicants will have a good understanding of legacy data ecosystems, with experience in automated testing techniques, including regression test automation.
