Senior FP&A Analyst

📍Cardiff | 🏢Hybrid | ⏰35 hours per week | 💷 £41,000 – 45,000 DOE

Are you an analytical finance professional who enjoys turning complex data into meaningful insight?

We’re looking for a Senior FP&A Analyst to help shape our strategic financial planning, budgeting and forecasting. In this influential role, you’ll work closely with colleagues across Finance, Product, Treasury and Credit Risk, translating business plans and commercial activity into clear financial outcomes.

Through insightful analysis, robust financial modelling and effective business partnering, you’ll help colleagues make informed decisions and support the Society’s sustainable growth and long-term ambitions. You’ll also have the opportunity to strengthen our forecasting, portfolio analytics and decision-support capabilities, while promoting strong model governance and continuous improvement across FP&A.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Deliver the annual budget, quarterly forecasts and medium-term plan, ensuring key assumptions are complete, aligned and robust.
  • Produce scenario and sensitivity analysis to inform tactical and strategic decision-making.
  • Support ICAAP stress testing and weekly cash-flow forecasting.
  • Provide clear and meaningful performance analysis for month-end reporting, KPIs and senior-level scorecards.
  • Work collaboratively with Product, Treasury, Credit Risk and other stakeholders to agree planning assumptions and translate commercial activity into financial outcomes.
  • Enhance forecasting, portfolio analytics and decision-support capabilities by identifying opportunities to improve processes, measures, data and technology.
  • Deliver responsive, high-quality analysis that provides actionable insight and supports effective resource allocation.
  • Monitor forecast performance, investigate material variances and clearly explain performance against budget and forecast.

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, with close attention to detail and sound judgement when interpreting information.
  • Experience sourcing, organising and analysing data to support financial planning, budgeting or forecasting.
  • Experience preparing management information and explaining performance against budget or forecast.
  • Strong Excel modelling skills and confidence working with large datasets.
  • The ability to build, operate and improve financial models.
  • An understanding of balance sheets, net interest margin and the financial connections across an organisation.
  • Knowledge of investment appraisal techniques, such as return on assets, return on capital, net present value and payback.
  • Clear and engaging communication skills, with the ability to make complex financial analysis accessible.
  • A collaborative approach and the confidence to build effective relationships with colleagues and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong organisation and prioritisation skills, with the flexibility to deliver high-quality work to demanding deadlines.
  • The ability to work through ambiguity, evaluate qualitative and quantitative evidence and recommend practical actions.

Experience within financial services forecasting, analysis or reporting would be helpful, but it isn’t essential. What matters most is your analytical capability, curiosity and commitment to continuous improvement and high quality outputs.

Qualifications

You’ll ideally be a part-qualified accountant through ACA, ACCA, CIMA or an equivalent professional body. A degree or equivalent professional experience would be beneficial.
