Are you passionate about DevOps, automation, and creating seamless development environments? We’re looking for a Platform Engineer to join our Platform & Engineering team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in enabling efficient, modern software delivery across the business through cutting-edge tooling, cloud technologies, and DevOps best practices.

As a Platform Engineer, you’ll be responsible for delivering and evolving the technical solutions that support our Change Delivery teams. You’ll lead the implementation of DevOps capabilities—environments, tools, automation, and processes—to optimise the software delivery lifecycle across both on-premise and cloud platforms.

Your work will span the full development lifecycle, from creating integrated development/test environments to defining deployment processes, infrastructure automation, and supporting non-functional testing (NFT). You’ll also help champion a DevOps culture and foster continuous improvement across tools, practices, and team capability.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Designing and delivering DevOps and environment automation solutions across development and test lifecycles.
  • Building and evolving CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, including deployment automation and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Supporting both cloud and on-premise delivery, reducing friction for teams through reusable platform components.
  • Collaborating with Change teams to integrate tools and processes that support rapid, safe software delivery.
  • Enabling non-functional testing (e.g. security, performance) through platform capabilities and automation.
  • Promoting DevOps best practices and mentoring teams in platform capabilities, security, and delivery metrics.
  • Championing platform-as-product thinking with a focus on self-service, scalability, and developer experience.

Technical Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps (Repos, Pipelines, Boards, Artifacts).
  • Strong knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD automation across hybrid environments.
  • Proficiency in technologies such as Git, PowerShell/Bash, and infrastructure automation (e.g. Terraform, Bicep).
  • Experience with containerisation (e.g. Docker) and microservices-based delivery.
  • Familiarity with both cloud and on-premise infrastructure models.
  • Working knowledge of secure SDLC practices and non-functional testing requirements (e.g. resilience, availability, performance, security).

Desirable:

  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tooling (e.g. Datadog, App Insights).
  • Knowledge of Agile principles and DevOps practices.
  • Experience working in platform or enablement teams and using flow metrics to improve delivery.

What You’ll Bring:

  • A strong problem-solving mindset and the ability to simplify complexity into reusable platform components.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills — able to explain ideas clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to share knowledge, learn from others, and improve team capability.
  • Passion for automation, reducing cognitive load, and delivering great internal developer experience.

Why Join Us:

You'll be part of a forward-thinking, tech-driven team in an organisation that values innovation, collaboration, and learning. We offer a supportive environment where your ideas and input make a real difference to how we deliver value through technology.
