Assistant Maintenance Manager

Our Maintenance team, responsible for ensuring that the fabric of the whole property is in tip-top condition, are seeking an Assistant Manager to support the team and the manager in delivering an efficient and effective service. The team face a diverse range of opportunities and challenges on a daily basis.

Key accountabilities for the role are:


  • To manage the supervisors and engineers co-ordinating and supervising all aspects of maintenance including breakdowns and PPM to ensure smooth running of equipment and facilities.


  • To ensure all tools, maintenance equipment, hardware and chemicals are ordered; stored and stock control is in compliance with Company procedures to run an efficient and effective PPM and repairs programme and in line with H&SAW and COSHH


  • To recruit, train, monitor, discipline and carry out timely EARs for allocated staff to maintain standards and consistency of delivery as directed within the law and engage staff in the departmental objective process ensuring guest satisfaction


  • To be responsible for the monitoring of all costs within the department including staff costs, contractors, spares and equipment and to assist the Property Manager to work within budget.


  • Using information available, plan and control both the preparation of future shifts and effective communication to the team; across the hotel and to contractors to ensure standards are met and guest disruption is minimised.


  • To take appropriate action and co-operate with your team colleagues to maintain a safe and equitable working environment whilst being sensitive to, and aware of, business/staffing levels in order to maintain a disciplined but harmonious department.


  • To ensure any Guest request, outside your area of expertise, is raised immediately to the appropriate level and followed up to ensure a swift resolution.


  • To work within all company policies with specific reference to the Health and Safety at Work Act and the COSHH.





Previous maintenance experience in a hotel or similar environment

Relevant City & Guilds building qualifications

Knowledge of relevant statutory legislation e.g. fire, electrical and Health & Safety

Can demonstrate good organisation and administration skills

English language skills – Verbal and written – to GCSE Level D or equivalent

Numerate – GCSE Level D or equivalent

Ability to demonstrate Initiative and assertiveness

Can demonstrate examples of working effectively in a Team

Good knowledge of Hotel plant

H&S Qualification



Good PC skills including Microsoft office

Mechanical / Electrical qualifications

Train the Trainer Certificate
