Our Head Office is based in West London and is an exciting and dynamic place to work. In this creative and fast paced environment, our Garment & Product Technologists work closely with the Buyers and Designers developing products from the initial design concept through to production.

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Technologist – Footwear and Accessories to join our technical team in London.

You will report to the Technical Manager and the role involves managing and developing a small team of technologists. You will be responsible for the strategic development of the department and will be expected to contribute to and support the development of the overall technical strategy for River Island. In addition, the role involves:

  • Driving consistency in fit and quality through product development / approval processes
  • Develop and manage the achievement of performance / testing requirements
  • Plan workloads
  • Develop and manage suppliers to deliver to our standards
  • Maintain a knowledge of changes in legislation – including global changes / requirements
  • Continuous improvement through the analysis of returns and customer feedback, competitor awareness and industry feedback.
  • Support the ethical and sourcing team
  • Some hands on involvement in fitting and sealing product.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in Footwear and, preferably, some experience in Accessories, with a strong knowledge/ understanding of Footwear manufacturing. You will have some middle management experience and will ideally have worked in a retail technical environment. You will have a full understanding of the risks and legal requirements of the product.   Additional skills / qualities include:
