We are currently recruiting for an experienced Shopfitting Surveyor / Project Manager, to join our Shopfitting team, based at our Head Office in Hanger Lane, West London.

Our Project Managers are responsible for all aspects of both refits and new store projects from inception to completion.  Working alongside other Project Managers and reporting directly to the Shopfitting Controller you will be wholly responsible for:-

  • Initial inspection, schedule of condition and measured survey of shop units.
  • Obtaining all statutory consents inc. Building warrants, planning and advert approvals and Landlords approvals.
  • Dealing with Consultants as required
  • Engaging Structural Engineers and reviewing details
  • Obtaining and reviewing tenders from individual Contractors
  • Applying for building services inc. electrical supplies, water, BT etc
  • Ensuring that works comply with all fire safety provisions particularly with regard to smoke control measures in shopping centres and arranging any works required.
  • Placing orders for works and providing quantities for purchasing
  • Checking and co-ordination of drawings in conjunction with the in house team and external Contractors.
  • Confirming and co-ordinating of the program of works with relevant contractors
  • Attending regular site meetings to review progress and ensure details and finishes are to River Island standards and project drawings.
  • Liaising with in house departments inc. Retail, IT, Profit Protection and Health and Safety
  • Liaise with statutory authority representatives and Shopping Centre Mangers
  • Settlement of all final accounts
  • Obtain sign off of project from external and internal parties.
  • Compile and issue O&M details and handover information to the relevant parties.

In addition, our Project Managers are responsible for monitoring outstanding works/snagging items, to ensure their completion as well as any related administration in conjunction with the works when required.

The shop fitting team includes in house CAD/Design who the Project Manager will be expected to work in conjunction with. They will also need to liaise regularly with the Property Department, Retail Operations and the Brand/Visual Team.

Suitable candidates must demonstrate the following:

  • Project management experience within a retail environment
  • Experience of working within a Shopfitting environment
  • Possess relevant qualifications – e.g. HNC, BTEC
  • Strong organisational, communication and management skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Problem solving
  • Attention to detail
  • Enthusiasm
  • Technical knowledge covering a wide range of discipline
  • Thorough understanding of Building Regulations
  • Ability to read and work with drawings
  • Ability to manage own workload, plan and prioritise work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Good working knowledge of ‘Microsoft Office’ and CAD systems
  • Hold a full driving license

NB. Candidates need to be aware that this role will predominately be based at our Head Office in West London, however it will involve travel throughout the UK, Ireland and some European/International destinations. The role is based on 40 hours per week, although additional commitment will be required in relation to travel and as the role requires.
