Production Garment Technologist

Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be liaising with the Buying, Design, Pattern Room and Q.C teams. The prime function of the role is to oversee the sample sealing process ensuring the critical path is maintained and that a correct sealed sample, garment spec, factory instruction and graded production patterns are in place in good time for production to commence by the required date.


Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Attend garment fit and production meetings
  • Update and maintain B&M production schedule
  • Ensure all necessary trim and sample fabric are in place for sampling
  • Check all samples prior to fitting or presentation
  • Ensure all fit meeting notes are accurate and subsequent pattern amendments are prioritised with the pattern room
  • Maintain a complete history of the sealing process 
  • Oversee Sample Assistant to ensure that all sample packs are correct and the information given to the factories is sufficient for them to make the required sample correctly and in good time
  • All specs / factory notes and instructions are accurate and concise
  • Maintain accurate records of the amount, type and status of samples produced
  • Chase in-work samples by the required time
  • Tidy and maintain the sampling and Q.C. area 
  • Brief the Sample Assistant on his/her specific duties, ensuring they have sufficientinformation to cover in your absence
  • Prioritise the work load passed on to the Pattern and Gerber departments in accordance with the B&M Production Schedule
  • Liaise with the Quality Control team regarding any possible production issues that may come to light during the sealing process

Suitable candidates will possess the following:

  • Similar experience within a fashion environment
  • A good knowledge of patterns, specs and garment construction
  • The ability to produce fashionable, production-friendly styles that are sealed at first stage to ensure quick delivery of our product to store
  • Previous experience of managing and delegating a demanding workload
  • Strong Communication/internal liaison skills
  • PC Literate
  • A knowledge of factory processes would be an asset
