BNF Paediatric Formulary committee member – Injectable administration subcommittee

BNF Publications are unique in bringing together authoritative, independent guidance on best practice with clinically validated drug information, enabling healthcare professionals to select safe and effective medicines for their patients.

The Paediatric Formulary Committee (PFC) is the clinical governance board of the BNF for Children. Members of the PFC review significant amendments to the BNF for Children and contribute to clinical policy decisions for the publication.

The PFC is creating a short-life subcommittee with a focus on information around administration of injectable drugs to paediatric patients. We’d welcome expressions of interest for clinical members to this focus group. The focus group is beginning in Winter 2020 and expected to run for one year.

In this role you will:

  • Use your clinical experience to contribute to discussions around administration of injectable drugs to paediatric patients;
  • contribute to a rewarding and stimulating environment with supportive colleagues;
  • be working for the greater good, affecting the health of large numbers of patients;
  • help to advance prescribing excellence.

We would welcome an application from you if you have:

  • Current clinical experience as a nurse or pharmacist in a paediatric hospital setting;
  • A registration with the relevant registering body (GPhC or NMC);
  • Time and commitment to participate in monthly online meetings;
  • Good communication and team-working skills;
  • Experience of working with research literature together with a willingness to consider clinical data and make decisions;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality as needed;
  • A commitment to work within the framework of BNF processes.

Support

All subcommittee members will be offered induction training and receive support from the BNF team and other committee members.

Membership of the PFC’s injectable administration subcommittee is voluntary; reasonable travel and subsistence costs are reimbursed, where appropriate.
