Tutor – Functional Skills (Maths)
Based in Nailsworth, Gloucestershire
40 hours per week, 40 weeks per year
Full Time Equivalent Salary: £31,547 - £32,900 per annum with increased earning potential up to £37,634 upon completion of internal courses and length of service.
Actual Salary from £27,679 - £28,666 per annum with increased earning potential as above pro-rated
Part time hours would be considered: 24 hours per week, 40 weeks per year - Actual Salary from £16,560 - £17,319 per annum with increased earning potential as above pro-rated
We are seeking to appoint a committed, enthusiastic professional to teach numeracy skills to groups of students of mixed abilities aged 16 – 25 who attend Ruskin Mill College, Nailsworth.
You will be responsible for the delivery of teaching and learning and supporting other tutors with the embedding of maths within a practical skills environment. You must be able to instill enthusiasm and enjoyment into the learning process in such a way that can lead to increased self-esteem and enhanced engagement in learning.
Applicants for this post must have experience of working with young people and vulnerable adults with special educational needs, challenging behaviours and mental health difficulties. You must be able to teach maths from Pre-Entry Level up to Level 2. Experience teaching GCSE, or a willingness to work towards teaching it, is also required. You will need to hold appropriate qualifications, e.g PGCE, or equivalent, and a minimum Level 3 subject specialism to allow you to do this.
Applicants must have a professional approach, be flexible and able to work alongside students engaged in craft and land work, as well as in a classroom setting.
