Data Quality Analyst

At Sainsbury’s the big decisions we make affect 160,000 colleagues, 1,200 stores and millions of customers. Every day. So it’s really, really important we get those decisions right. And that’s where you come in. Because the data that you lovingly maintain directly drives decisions, right up to board level.

You’ll be responsible for protecting and improving the quality of our customer data, managing data processes and resolving any problems. It matters, because your analysis will have a direct impact on our marketing. Your findings will inform the sort of conversations we have with customers. Because we’ll be able to ensure our campaigns talk about what matters to them, in the right ways, at the right times. Naturally, that means you’ll have a real impact on the success of our business. You’ll gain the experience you need to make a difference through data in any large commercial environment.

Technically minded and technically skilled, you know your SAS from your SQL. And you’re flexible, good at coping with rapid change. Possibly, you're experienced at doing retail in another organisation. Or you’re light on experience but big on technical skills. Either way, you're someone we can really get behind.

You will

  • Maintain and improve the Quality of Sainsbury’s Customer Data
  • Be the Subject Matter Expert for Sainsbury’s Customer Data, providing support to other departments and divisions
  • Support ongoing development and day to day maintenance
  • Be responsible for updating Sainsbury’s Customer Data
  • Manage regular processes for loading and transforming customer data from third parties
  • Manage processing requests in a timely and accurate manner
  • Proactively monitor quality of incoming customer data
  • Investigate poor data quality and data anomalies
  • Resolve customer and product data quality issues
  • Ensuring data quality initiatives deliver incremental improvements in data quality and customer contactability
  • Perform Steward Review Process to merge or retain suspected duplicate records

You can

  • Demonstrate experience of:
    • Working in a retail environment
    • SAS and/or SQL programming for complex data manipulation
    • Working with large volumes of customer and transactional data
    • And ideally, IBM Quality Stage and IBM MDM, or similar data matching and data quality tools (DataFlux, Informatica, Trillium)
  • Use MS Office applications: Excel, PowerPoint
  • Work proactively with minimal direction in a fast paced environment
  • Network and communicate effectively
  • Ideally, you’ll also have:
    • A marketing and/or data management related qualification (e.g. IDM Award in Data Management)
    • An appreciation of direct marketing and insight, and the use of customer data in data driven marketing
    • Used external data sources e.g. PAF, Acorn, Mosaic, Lifestyle & Electoral Roll
