Clothing Online Site Assistant Merchandiser

In a nutshell

As a site merchandising assistant you will be responsible for management of the customer facing part of the website, ensuring the customer journey is seamless.  Navigation around the site is a key part of the role to ensure customers can shop with ease and get to their intended destination as quickly as possible. You will be adhering to a critical path for key launches to ensure product is approved and photographed in a timely manner. You will need to have strong communication skills and an interest in online fashion.  You will report into the Online Merchandiser and work closely with the trading and content teams and an external photography agency.

What I need to do

  • Web Management System Specialist
  • Owning and becoming a specialist of our web management system
  • Setting up links to ensure navigation around the site is effective for the customer journey
  • Categorisation of the product to ensure it sits under the correct category on site
  • Approvals of product onto the website in line with the critical path / working with the trading teams to ensure deadlines are met
  • Owning and reviewing the taxonomy / filters / drop down menus on the site in line with best practise
  • Measuring click through rates to ensure we have the correct headings and titles
  • Working with the photography agency ensuring efficient delivery of copy and images
  • Attention to detail and accuracy required throughout the photography and copy process
  • Setting up promotions and roundels
  • Product
  • Daily site checks in a testing and live environment
  • Reacting to searches and minimising  failed/internal searches
  • Competitor analysis – dropdowns / taxonomy to ensure we have the relevant product on site
  • Working closely with the content team reacting to heat-maps & customer journey
  • Working closely with trading to maximise sales/conversion/click through rates
  • Understanding of stock management
  • Heroeing styles that have been promoted in PR / best sellers
  • Optimising the website
  • Continuously reviewing and suggesting improvements to the website
  • Working cross functionally with other trading assistants/content/merchandising assistants to develop consistency between the teams
  • Checking the website has been executed accurately and address any errors quickly and efficiently informing relevant stakeholders as necessary

How I will succeed

Help the online trading team to drive online KPI’s:

  • Online Sales/Demand/Orders/Click through rate/Conversion
  • Successful launch of new ranges in line with plans (Events/Ranges)
  • Product/Content accuracy
  • Price/Promo accuracy

What I need to know

  • Computer Literate in Microsoft packages – Intermediate excel skills
  • An understanding of online clothing market and how it is evolving to identify opportunities and challenges
  • Being able to adapt to change – working in a fast paced online environment
  • Strong communication skills
