Are you an experienced Data Analyst? Do you have an understanding of Marketing campaigns?


If so, we’d love you to join our team!

In this role you will be responsible for supporting the Database Marketing Manager in creating a Centre of Excellence for Database Marketing. You assist in the running of the full campaign data cycle through providing targeting & selections, with specific focus on our customer & product acquisition & x-sale marketing campaigns as the Bank continues its growth strategy.

You’ll be exploiting customer, product & Nectar Loyalty data to develop, manage & deliver the Bank’s 121 channel marketing plan and drive improvements in business performance and profitability.

You’ll be:

  • Designing, optimising & deploying all 121 acquisition & x-sale campaigns across both front & back-books across all channels (e.g. DM, Email, Coupon-at-till, etc) to drive increased business performance & profitability, including:
  • Leveraging segmentation & statistical models provided by the Modelling & Customer Analysis teams
  • Aligning Sainsbury’s to maximise the contact strategy across the Group
  • Identifying process enhancements and efficiency improvements
  • Sourcing of new sources of data & technology to increase volume & profitability of activity
  • Assisting the Database Marketing Manager in building strong relationships with Sainsbury's colleagues to deliver highly targeted, personalised communications to deepen customer loyalty to the overall Group
  • Providing complex analytical/research advice and recommendations to the business, using own judgement as to when more complex issues require escalation
  • Delivering focused management information, customer, competitor and market insights through research and data analysis which inform business decisions
  • Monitoring, supporting and operating a range of models and systems to ensure that they are effectively maintained and coordinated, recommending improvements.


You’ll bring: 


  • Strong numeracy skills, with excellent analytical and problem solving skills & attention to detail
  • Experience & knowledge of campaign management best practice covering areas of customer targeting, customer analysis & campaign measurement in a relevant industry (e.g. Financial Services, Retail, etc.)
  • Relevant technical skills & experience covering SQL and / or SAS plus campaign management software (desirable). Advanced user of Microsoft products (especially Excel & Access)
  • Organisation skills and the ability to prioritise workload in line with tight deadlines and work effectively under pressure
  • Excellent team player with ability to working closely with others to deliver results
  • Proven track record of working on own initiative, with the ability to introduce fresh thinking to the role and the wider team
  • Demonstrate an ability to think and reason logically
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Exceptional communication skills – ability to communicate effectively with anyone in any environment, e.g. able to translate complex / technical issues to meet the audience's competency level.
