Accounts Controller

Accounts Controller

This role is about much more than facts, figures and payments. You’ll be at the heart of our relationship with the suppliers who make it possible for us to help our customers live well for less. We take pride in sourcing good products at fair prices. We take just as much pride in the integrity with which we treat the farmers and makers who supply us.

Managing a number of different accounts, you’ll make sure each supplier is paid accurately and on time, every time. But that’s just the start of your responsibilities. When a supplier comes to you with a query about any aspect of their account or payment, you’ll make it a point of principle to get the answer and satisfy any concerns.

Delving right into the details, you’ll speak to a range of different departments to investigate and resolve issues. Treating every penny as if it were your own, you’ll keep the supplier informed of your progress by phone and email.

What’s more, you’ll take the initiative to investigate ways in which we can make our ways of working better and simpler. You’ll analyse the causes of problems and propose practical solutions. Because you’re a real team player. And you want to do right by the whole Sainsbury’s family.

Do a great job and you’ll find this role can be a brilliant springboard to a rewarding finance career. As a big brand, we can offer all sorts of opportunities to develop and progress at our offices in Manchester, London and Coventry.

To join us, you should have experience of working in a finance team – from invoice match and clear, to direct/depot receiving processes. Ideally, you’ll have or be studying towards a financial qualification. You’ll use our Didos system for processing, and you’ll perform data manipulations suchs as vlookups and ptables in Excel, so you’ll need to be confident working with IT, also including Word.

As well as being great with numbers, you’re great with people. Whether you’re writing an email, answering a call or liaising with a colleague in person, you’re a clear communicator. Crucially, you have the drive and initiative to get stuck in to solving problems and creating solutions.

That’s how you’ll make a positive difference for Sainsbury’s and for our suppliers. And it’s why we’ll make a big difference for you in return.
