In a nutshell

This role will help Sainsburys develop a new wholesale business channel which over the next 5 years will make a significant contribution to the overall business.

The Business Analyst - New ventures will support the execution of strategic plans to grow volumes through new business opportunities across Food Commercial, and will interact from time to time with business operations.  As the Business Analyst - New venturesyou will support the team in the development of the on-going business strategy and delivery of new volume growth opportunities, and be responsible for effective coordination of plans for wholesaling and franchise. These plans will cover key accounts in international territories including Denmark, Italy, Spain and throughout the UK.

The role requires influencing a wide variety of stakeholders across many areas of the business including D &T, finance, logistics, supply chain, commercial operations and trading.   

What I need to do

  • Work closely with the B2B Strategy Manager to ensure new growth opportunities are prioritised and managed effectively
  • Assist B2B Strategy Manager in the development of new business initiatives leading to a £500m opportunity over 3-5 years
  • Manage highly complex cross functional projects to ensure they are delivered in a timely manner
  • Analyse internal and external data sources to provide clear insights from which the B2B Strategy Manager is able to make decisions
  • Sets targets for account performance and reviews on a regular basis
  • Accountable for analysing account performance and suggest future plans to the B2B Strategy manager
  • Liaise and work closely with new partners in a necessary diligent and professional manner to build and develop strong working relationships
  • Develop clear plans to enable timely delivery of agreed business to business plans
  • Complete detailed investigation and prepare papers on project issues to identify the root cause of project slippage
  • Manage Sainsbury’s resources across Food Commercial, Retail, Supply Chain, Logistics, D & T, HR and audit to ensure Sainsbury’s brand is fully protected.
  • Acts as a champion for all B2B and franchise activity
  • Work closely with D & T to ensure needs of the B2B business are clearly understood
  • Holds and manages accurate information for all Sainsbury’s B2B accounts and products

  • The coordinated Strategic, operational and financial support provided is proactively supplied and provides insight and challenge to the process
  • Account summaries collated on a weekly basis
  • All account information readily accessible and easy to identify
  • Effective and clear prioritised plans in place
  • Accurate and timely delivery of  papers to relevant decision-making body and working groups
  • Be recognised as a role model for planning across all business areas
  • Effective relationships built across the business (e.g. Food Commercial, Supply chain, Retail, D&T, HR, Corporate affairs, Finance, Customer Insight), these relationships will enable the delivery of the above accountabilities
