Proposition Development Executive

In a nutshell

Responsible for supporting the definition and delivery of our Customer Ordering proposition. Including order platform maintenance, providing support to Retail colleagues and suppliers, and support for the Customer Ordering Proposition Manager, from identification of new opportunities to sizing and executing their delivery.

What I need to do

Identification, definition and delivery of new Customer Ordering propositions

  • Support Proposition Manager in identifying new products and propositions, developing the product brief (E.g. customer need, potential products and suppliers) and sizing the scale of opportunity for Sainsbury’s
  • Where appropriate take ownership of product and proposition delivery, working with cross-functional colleagues from D&T, Trading, Sainsbury’s Brand and Supply Chain to bring new products and new propositions to market within the Customer Ordering service
  • Maintain knowledge of competitor Customer Ordering propositions and share knowledge with wider cross-functional stakeholders

Ownership of product structure and data integrity for Customer Ordering website

  • With support from the Proposition Manager structure the Customer Ordering products into appropriate product groups which can be easily navigated by our customers to meet their various missions
  • Ensure product information (including image, specification, description and price) is up to date and accurate
  • Maintain the live product assortment available on the Customer Ordering website to ensure that products offered to customers are available and can be fulfilled by our suppliers

Support Retail and supplier execution of Customer Ordering

  • Work with Counters Operations Team to ensure Customer Ordering processes and procedures are maintained to a high standard, and that queries are resolved in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Be the point of contact for non-procedural queries from Retail colleagues and the Careline regarding execution of the service, and as an escalation point for ad hoc queries
  • Be the point of contact for suppliers in order to manage any supply issues, and ensure that appropriate action is taken to mitigate any associated customer risk (E.g. removal of product from the website, or contacting the Careline to manage at-risk orders)

How I will succeed

  • Meet performance targets for sales, profit (net contribution) and customer satisfaction, consistently supporting Proposition Manager to deliver improvements across all metrics
  • Build a deep understanding of Customer Ordering website functions as well as supplier and Retail operations
  • Develop good understanding of Customer Ordering market and potential opportunities for Sainsbury’s to develop its offer
  • Ad hoc Retail and supplier queries are resolved satisfactorily, evidenced by positive feedback from stakeholders
  • Great teamwork and communication, evidenced by positive feedback from peers, cross-functional and cross-category teams

  • Able to deal with ad hoc queries in a timely manner, providing support to key stakeholders
