Change Capability & Development Manager

The Change Capability & Development Manager is responsible for developing Change Capability within Sainsbury’s Bank through control, challenge, management and execution of the SB Strategic Change Framework and Project Method. This results in predictability of delivery performance; robust governance; faster resolution of issues; informed, effective and timely decisions and optimal business outcomes for our key stakeholder groups.

 

You’ll be responsible for developing and improving Business Change Policy and Standards (Processes, Methods, Tools and Controls), whilst ensuring they are effectively embedded and used throughout the organisation and with third parties. You’ll work well with Executive level stakeholders, quickly establishing credibility by demonstrating an understanding of both governance and business needs and helping to navigate the Change portfolio to success.

 

You’ll:

  • drive development and delivery of the Bank’s end state Change Capability in collaboration with the Head of cPMO; New Bank Programme Office Lead; Head of Business Change; Head of Architecture; Head of IT Delivery and Third Party PMO Leads, resulting in fit-for-purpose, enduring processes, methods, tools & controls
  • develop and agree a forward plan of Capability Development aligned with key organisation milestones/ transition states that links with the development of other functions e.g. Digital, Data
  • identify, develop and drive improvements to Change standards and processes so that these remain fit-for-purpose
  • work with the Senior Leadership Group and Extended Leadership Group colleagues to understand the nature and types of change that take place across Sainsbury’s Bank and ensure Business Change is capable of supporting all change activity (either actively, or through the creation of the right environment)
  • monitor and periodically review Business Change Policy & Standards internally and with key suppliers
  • be accountable for ensuring lessons learned from active use of Standards by Business Change PMs are actioned in a timely and effective manner
  • be responsible for identifying, agreeing and maintaining hand-ins and hand-offs between Business Change, Architecture, IT and SRM
  • work with Change Risk to develop effective monitoring of Business Change Controls including an agreed regime of Process Control Testing
  • be accountable for ensuring Business Change responsibilities are met as they relate to Operational Risk, management of Business Change inputs to the Electronic Risk Management Framework
  • drive the embedding, of the suite of materials and tools purchased by Sainsbury’s Bank that supports the agreed methodology. This includes monitoring and reporting of usage and developing cross-portfolio visibility of project status for use by the Planning and Controls Manager, and the Governance & Reporting Manager.
  • support the Development and Delivery of a training plan to support the Business Change team & those people in The Bank actively involved in or leading Change (e.g. Sponsors, SMEs) in using the agreed Standards including one-to-one coaching where appropriate
  • support change activities outside of Business Change control by offering support and coaching as required
  • develop and agree a set of Key Performance Indicators that Business Change will use to measure its performance. Agree a timetable for assessing KPIs, and drive their measurement and assessment, making recommendations for improvement to the Head of cPMO and Head of Business Change
  • work with IT Delivery to ensure Policy and Standards are applied appropriately and consistently across IT suppliers
  • work with the SRM team to ensure Policy and Standards are applied appropriately and consistently across all non-IT suppliers

  

You’ll bring:

  • a professional qualification in Change Management is preferred e.g. Association of Project Management (APM), Prince 2
  • a proven track record in the management of complex business transformation at all stages of the lifecycle
  • experience within the financial services industry
  • well organised and able to prioritise workload in line with tight deadlines and work effectively under pressure
  • highly resilient, adaptable and able to deal effectively with ambiguity/changing priorities
  • ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced change environment
  • highly numerate, with excellent analytical and problem solving skills and attention to detail
  • excellent team player with ability to working closely with others to deliver results
  • effective coach/mentor with proven ability to develop others

  • proven track record of working on own initiative, with the ability to introduce fresh thinking to the role and the wider team
