In a nutshell

Sainsbury’s, one of the UK’s largest retailers is investing heavily in digital innovation - its aim being to build a centre of excellence where digital output is crafted using industry leading best practice frameworks and methodologies to produce world class applications and services. This is a specialised role within Enterprise Architecture within an increasingly important domain for a data driven retailer. We aim for the smart use of data to drive business value and to be a differentiator for Sainsbury’s as a Group. This role plays a key part in shaping and realising that vision. We are looking for someone with a blend of broad enterprise architecture thinking and discipline, a background in business intelligence and data warehousing and knowledge of big data and cloud-based technologies. This has to be coupled with the soft-skills needed to interact with senior stakeholders and sell a vision for the future of the technology domain.

Candidates will have strong and convincing views on the future use of data in an enterprise, will be up to date on their technology knowledge, will be capable influencers and leaders and will be comfortable working at various levels of abstraction, ensuring not just success of their product, but that of the broader enterprise. At Sainsbury’s we have one of the most exciting data sets available in industry available to us, sponsorship right from the top of the organisation and this is a key role in enabling us to deliver full value from that data, working with talented and ambitious colleagues.

You’ll be someone who loves to make things happen, who can communicate complex technical issues in a clear manner, who can work at the detailed level but also see the bigger picture, and be someone passionate about identifying and delivering simple solutions to complex problems.
