Stories producer

Sightsavers has an exciting new opportunity for an enthusiastic and capable stories producer to be the organisational lead on sourcing stories from our neglected tropical diseases work

Location:     Haywards Heath/ Remote (UK)

Contract:     Permanent, Part Time (4 days per week)

At Sightsavers we’re building a global creative team, combining story collection and content production. With this approach we’re aiming to strengthen our end-to-end storytelling, putting the experiences of communities, partners and staff front and centre, in content that motivates and educates our audiences. The content and stories team will respond to briefs from across the organisation, delivering consistent messaging and audience-focused communications that cut through to drive change.

As stories producer - NTDs you will be responsible for sourcing impactful stories from our neglected tropical diseases work. You’ll collaborate closely with communications and fundraising teams to identify story needs, and work with technical and project delivery teams to identify story opportunities and plan documentation activity.

About you

You’ll be a storytelling geek with a huge passion for photography, video content and first-person, human-interest stories. You’ll have a keen interest in participatory storytelling approaches as well as experience in adhering to ethical content and safeguarding policies.

You’ll have an instinct for a great story, and you’ll be fantastic at building relationships with the people who can help you seek them out. Your creativity and curiosity will make sure the details that bring stories to life are uncovered, and you’ll have strong experience of guiding both project implementation teams and professional photographers and videographers to capture them.

You’ll have a great understanding of NGO communications and fundraising, especially digital channels and you’ll enjoy working collaboratively with communications colleagues to plan stories needs and deliver against briefs.

You’ll be an excellent organiser with unparalleled logistics planning, and the ability to adapt those plans on the fly with quick decision making and an unflappable approach to change. You can make things happen, quickly.

You’ll be an inspirational people person who is enthusiastic about building story collection skills in others and shouting from the roof tops about the great stories that are available for use.

You’ll be technologically confident, especially using Microsoft Office systems.
