Support Worker - Middlesbrough (Specialist Service)

An exciting opportunity has arisen within SJOG for experienced Support Workers to become part of a specialist residential home accredited with National Autistic Society for 3 adults with autism and associated conditions. 

If you have a contemporary understanding of autism and are interested in developing the latest research and practice skills so that people with autism can thrive in their local community, then we want to hear from you! 

Our autism practice model is based on academically approved standards, and is aligned with autism good practice and national guidance. As part of a new team you will support us in providing people with autism with an outcome focused service, with person centred active support at its core.  

You will need to have proof of eligibility to work in the UK and currently we are unable to offer any sponsorships.

Initially working from a hospital in Middlesbrough before transferring to Menni View in Coulby Newham, you will be responsible for supporting individuals within their home and the community.  

Key attributes: 

  • QCF 3 in Adult Health & Social Care or above. 
  • Experience of working with people with autism, in either a work or personal environment.  
  • Experience of supporting people with a Positive Behaviour Support approach. 
  • Full, clean driving licence is preferred but no essential.
  • Excellent communication skills, being able to communicate with people we support, colleagues, professionals and families.
  • Excellent written communication skills and ability to write accurate reports.  
  • Experience of the key worker role.    
  • Ability to work as part of a team or work independently.  
  • Able to provide personal care.  
  • Able to work flexible hours including weekends, nights etc according to the needs of the people in service.  
  • Honesty and reliability.  
  • Interested, motivated and committed.  
  • Accessible, approachable and comfortable with vulnerable people with complex needs.
