We are building our capacity as we continue to grow and develop new services through our “People, Potential and Partnerships” strategy. We excited to be developing our Property Services Team to provide comprehensive services to support our customers and colleagues.

We manage a range of properties nationally from specialist supported accommodation for people with complex needs as well as a number of schemes providing support to people with learning and/or physical disabilities, we also provide support to some of the most vulnerable members of the community suffering from homelessness.

As Fire Safety Officer, you will assume the duties and responsibilities related to undertaking Fire Risk Assessments nationally, covered under the requisite regulatory frameworks and guidance.  You will have the skills, behaviours and attributes to engage with and support service managers and colleagues at a national level to ensure we meet our statutory obligations. 

This is an exciting time at SJOG as we move forward in developing and enhancing our Property Services Team and this role is pivotal to ensuring the safety of our residents and colleagues.  

The role will be office based with the flexibility of homeworking available.  National travel will be required on a regular basis.

Essential skills and attributes:

  • Level 4 Diploma Certificate in Fire Safety or equivalent (or working towards).
  • Provide current evidence of delivering Type 1 Fire Risk Assessments.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks, legislation and guidance.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation, CDM, Planning and Building Regulations.
  • Ability to engage with and provide support and advice to service managers and colleagues.
  • Experience of performance management and achieving targets.
  • Good Project Management skills.
  • Ability to work with vulnerable groups and have an awareness of issues affecting people with disabilities.
  • Excellent IT and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and competing demands.
