Bede’s Close is a Residential Service based in Bradford which provides 24-hour Care and Support.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a brand new role within SJOG for an experienced Deputy Service Manager to become part of a specialist residential home which is accredited with National Autistic Society for 3 adults with autism and associated conditions.

Our autism practice model is based on academically approved standards, and is aligned with autism good practice and national guidance. 

The role involves providing support to the Registered Service Manager in the day to day management and leadership of the team. Deputising in the absence of the manager by providing residential support to people with autism and associated conditions.

The Deputy Manager will assist in promoting the principles of Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture (CQC, 2020) and to provide outcome focused support that enables people to live positively and as independent as possible in their community. The Deputy Manager will deputise and have responsibility under the Health & Social Care Act when the manager is not present. Leading by example the Deputy Manager will work into their team promoting practice leadership and coaching.

Key attributes: 

  • QCF 3 in Adult Health & Social Care or above.
  • Experience of working with people with autism, in either a work or personal environment.
  • Experience of supporting people with a Positive Behaviour Support approach.
  • Full, clean driving licence is preferred but not essential.
  • Excellent communication skills, being able to communicate with people we support, colleagues, professionals and families.
  • Excellent written communication skills and ability to write accurate reports.
  • Experience of the key worker role.
  • Ability to work as part of a team or work independently.
  • Able to provide personal care.
  • Able to work flexible hours including weekends, nights etc according to the needs of the people in service.
  • Honesty and reliability.
  • Interested, motivated and committed.
  • Accessible, approachable and comfortable with vulnerable people with complex needs.
