Senior Operations Manager

We are seeking a Senior Operations Manager to lead the Operations Management team to deliver excellence to our client, ensuring strong relationships and governance is maintained across the operational areas of the business.

The Senior Operations Manager will be responsible for providing direction and leadership to the whole operations team through the Operations Managers and Duty Managers. Working closely with other managers and stakeholders, you will play a pivotal role in driving the company's success, with a focus on the operational and day to day running of the business to achieve KPI’s, colleague management and welfare.

The Senior OM will be passionate about providing a safe, reliable and punctual service that delivers excellence to our customers. A Transport Manager with disciplined operations and an ability to review what is working well and where improvements can be made, responding to passenger and colleague feedback.
The ability to effectively coach, lead and manage a team in line with our DRIVE values.

Summary of key duties & responsibilities:
• Setting aims, objectives and priorities with the Operations Management team to deliver key operational KPIs and deliver Excellence Every 15 Minutes initiatives
• Leading, developing and managing the Operations Managers in accordance with SPS policies and procedures and through leadership skills in line with our DRIVE values
• Representing SPS through engagement with key client representatives, continuing to maintain an excellent partnership in delivering shared objectives and a ‘Best in Class’ service
• Leading and supporting client meetings
• Representing the Operations Managers as a Transport Manager on the SPS licence
• Develop and lead the Operations Managers through effective communication, active listening, support of their wellbeing and promotion of recognition
• Ensuring the core principles of service delivery are fully embedded along with the need for continuous change and improvement to ensure SPS continues to thrive is fully understood
• Working alongside the Digital and Business Intelligence Team to dynamically analyse data both retrospectively and proactively to identify key issues and suggest and implement actions for improvement to ensure continuous improvement of performance
• Promoting a positive attitude to safety through personal leadership and challenging and championing safe behaviours. Working alongside the Safety, Health and Environment department to deliver SHE objectives
• Supporting the on-boarding and development of an operations team who are engaged, talented and high performing; nurturing an innovative and continuous improvement culture
• Maintaining an effective working relationship with recognised trade union representatives and officials. Deputising in trade union meetings
• Overseeing regular upkeep of Operational systems/processes such as Webfleet, Moovemanage, Fuel cards and uTrack for effective service delivery standards. Ensure audits of systems are undertaken and issues are escalated to the relevant departments/suppliers

You will need to have a proven ability to lead a team, experience of collating and analysing data along with strong knowledge of key operational systems including Origin, Webfleet and Power Bi.

A flexible approach is needed with regard to working hours as we are a 24/7 business.

Ideally you will have experience in the bus industry and hold a Transport Managers Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).

All employees must be willing to undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and obtain a DBS certificate.
