Network One General Manager

Location: Newcastle Walkergate

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 (commensurate on experience)

Network One General Manager


Network One is responsible for the development, administration and delivery of Tyne and Wear’s prepaid ticketing scheme, and has the aim of encouraging multi-modal transport use. The General Manager will assume the role of Company Secretary, and will be responsible and accountable to the Network One Board for the commercial development and performance of the Network One prepaid ticketing scheme.



  • Oversee the development of the catalogue of Network One Products, and operational and commercial relationships
  • Lead the delivery and development of Sales Revenue reconciliation and provide responses to operators’ queries arising from this process
  • Develop a comprehensive marketing and communication plan for Network One
  • Deliver Network One’s retail plan through the co-ordination of existing and emerging retail agent opportunities
  • Oversee the day-to-day administration of the company
  • Proactively identify opportunities for the development and negotiation of commercial partnership opportunities, whilst ensuring continued growth of Network One’s business to business revenue
  • Determine Network One’s budgetary requirements and presenting these for approval at Board level
  • Lead the delivery, deployment and development of ITSO technological protocols and the technical deployment of ITSO compliant products for Network One
  • Lead market research projects to underpin commercial & strategic decision making processes undertaken by the Network One Board
  • Oversee any requests for Network One data by third parties and ensure Network One is compliant with the confidentiality requirements arising out of the Data Protection Act
  • Any other duties commensurate with the post as directed by the Network One Board/Panel


Minimum knowledge and skills

  • Extensive knowledge of product development processes and requirements
  • Knowledge of the Ticketing Scheme Block Exemption and the CMA Guidance for Multi-Operator Ticketing Schemes
  • Professional sector knowledge
  • Knowledge of the current and emerging best practice in ticketing product and service development
  • Analytical and numeric skills – interpret data to formulate plans
  • Computer literacy skills – to support performance and provide business analysis and interpretations
  • Financial and commercial awareness – making informed decisions based on financial and commercial considerations
  • Literacy skills – presenting written information persuasively to sustain an argument
  • Managerial skills – can take action to balance the pros and cons of distinct courses of action
  • Project management skills – ensure projects are delivered within scheduled commitments
  • Influencing skills – make persuasive arguments which positively influence the organisation and partners delivery process


Relevant experience

  • Relevant experience in a similar commercial product development and management role
  • Experience in development, negotiation and agreement of complex commercial agreements and arrangements with stakeholders and partners
  • Extensive experience in leading and managing activities across all aspects of the product life cycle in a relevant or similar environment
  • Experience in the analysis of complex data sets in a practical environment
  • Experience of using analytical tools for cost analysis and reimbursement allocations


Supervisory responsibilities

Network One Officer and Network One Assistant will report directly to the post holder.


Minimum education level

A degree, or equivalent professional attainment in a relevant subject is essential.
