Keeping London on the move
A Stagecoach London apprenticeship is a great way to develop state-of-the-art technical skills and train for a secure future as a mechanic, body repairer or an electrical engineer – learning first-hand on some of the most sophisticated vehicles on the road today.
It takes a lot of know-how to keep all of our London buses up to the job of serving one of the world’s biggest and busiest cities. Our 1,300–strong fleet carries approximately 330 million passengers across East and South East London, and covers a staggering 50 million miles a year.
Training for tomorrow
With constant new advances in design, construction and technology, maintenance theory and practice always moving forward – our engineers now need to be as knowledgeable in modern computer diagnostics as they are in traditional maintenance skills. So right from the word go, you can expect to be comprehensively trained to the highest standards in all the latest techniques – through a combination of depot-based experience and specialist residential college study.
Of course, it’s challenging – but throughout your training, you’ll work directly one-to-one with your own, personal and highly experienced mentor, who will always be on-hand to offer guidance and advice. Everything we do is geared towards helping you to fully develop your confidence and skills.
What's in it for you?
In four years, you'll progress up to NVQ level 3 in Bus & Coach Engineering Maintenance and a full Technical Certificate, gain an Advanced Apprenticeship in Transporting Engineering Maintenance and have the opportunity to become a licensed member of IRTEC (The Institute of Road Transport Engineers).
You'll also emerge with the in-demand skills and experience to form the backbone of a very worthwhile and rewarding career. (It's worth noting that all our successful apprentices have gone on to have a future with us; more than 350 apprenticeships over the past seven years in total and many Engineering Directors across the entire Stagecoach Group – one of the UK's largest bus operators – themselves began as apprentices.)
What we can offer you
And don't forget – from day one, right through your training, you'll be working for a prestigious leading transport operator and will enjoy:
Please note - although this apprenticeship is advertised as being based at West Ham Head Office, you could be based at any of our locations in east or south east London.
