We have a fantastic opportunity for a Business Intelligence Developer to join our specialist IT team at our head office in Wigan, Greater Manchester. We are also open to consider candidates wanting to work from our Bolton or Manchester office as well as having the flexibility of working from home. About the Role

You will support the development and maintenance of our corporate business intelligence capability .  Our Microsoft data warehouse and business intelligence platform  is used to deliver data, information and reports to internal customers throughout the business in a timely manner.  Key responsibilities include:


  • Supporting the design, modelling and development of our corporate data warehouse, supporting data marts and reporting infrastructure using Microsoft BI technology
  • Developing robust and accurate reporting solutions using a range of tools and techniques
  • Managing data warehouse schemas to ensure a robust and flexible framework is utilised to support efficient reporting, dashboarding and analytical platform development
  • Managing technical issues and requests for additional information to ensure the consistent, timely provision of data and information to internal customers in line with Service Level Agreements
  • Supporting the creation and on-going management of our company-wide BI Competency Centre, including but not restricted to governance structures, business and technical support processes and development approaches
  • Adherence to internal processes and risk frameworks

About You

As an experienced developer you will be able to demonstrate proven experience and knowledge in the following areas:


  • Experience in creating 3rd normal form and multi-dimensional data warehouse environments using SQL Server 2012 and 2016
  • Experience in implementing data integration and migration solutions, including data quality assessment and data profiling, ETL implementation (including stored procedures) and change data capture procedures
  • Excellent data architecture experience using UML and demonstrable database design skills, including both relational and multi-dimensional modelling capabilities in data warehouse/OLTP/OLAP environments
  • Experience in administrating and maintaining live BI architectures, including performance tuning and technical issue resolution


  • Experience in transforming business requirements into practical BI solutions using formal project management methodologies
  • Experience as a DBA in an OLTP Progress / OpenEdge environment is beneficial
