Agency Planning Manager

This is an exciting unprecedented period of transformation within the media landscape. Seismic changes already well underway are challenging and disrupting how Media Agencies operate, and how media is both planned and bought. With these shifting sands come increasing levels of complexity to the media planning cycle with new agency services and departments regularly appearing to help support these challenges. It is this backdrop that has facilitated the creation of a crucial new role within each of the Agency Sales Hubs at the Telegraph.

To date, The Telegraph has long standing, strong relationships with the agency investment teams but they are now looking for someone to help establish strong relationships with the agency decision makers (Planners, Business Directors).

As an Agency Business Partner you will sit within a Hub structure which is focused around key agency groups (Omnicom, Aegis/Publicis and WPP). The Hub includes digital, multi media and content specialists but you will work across all areas to promote an integrated Telegraph solution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate across key Telegraph agency Sales Managers
  • Support in embedding existing sales relationships further into Agencies beyond traditional investment or activation teams, where the majority of our contacts currently sit.
  • Put The Telegraph front and centre in the minds of Agency Planners, Agency Strategists, Agency Promotion / Branded Content Departments, Social Teams and most importantly, Client Leads (Account Directors and Business Directors).
  • Form a deeper understanding of key clients’ business challenges, immersing yourself in the agencies planning processes and planning beliefs, interrogating client briefs, helping deliver Telegraph sourced planning insights and influencing decision makers at the channel planning stage of the media planning process.
  • Influence choices made earlier in the planning process, sharing insights in how the TMG can help individual client objectives.

Your Skills:

  • Inquisitive, informed and tenacious communicator
  • Ideally you will have an Agency background at a Senior Comms Planning, Account Director or Business Director (or equivalent) level
  • Proven experience leading on blue chip accounts
  • A great record in media comms planning or strategy.
  • Adept at interpreting / interrogating briefs
  • A strong working knowledge of key industry planning tools & systems and a modern approach to sourcing insights.

What you can expect from us if you're successful:

  • Personal and career development opportunities such as communication, soft skills and industry qualifications.
  • Work within a dynamic team, who challenge the status quo and champion agile working & continuous improvement; adopting the Telegraph’s values - together, fearless, open-minded and informed - in everything we do.
  • 25 days holiday; rising to 30 days after 3 years service, private pension, plus lifestyle, health & well being and financial benefits.

The Telegraph’s goal is to foster a diverse and inclusive workplace and we are committed to building a team that reflects a wide variety of skills, perspectives and backgrounds.

We are an equal opportunities employer, hiring solely on merit and business need. We encourage applications regardless of sex, gender identity, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, pregnancy, parenthood and disability.
