Editorial SEO Analyst

Working on the newsroom floor, the Editorial SEO team is an integral part of the publication process, influencing decisions and making recommendations to journalists throughout the day.

You can expect a fast-paced environment where no day is the same. The SEO team output is heavily influenced by the news agenda, and we take a flexible approach to the day’s work as priorities can quickly change.

Key responsibilities

  • Producing SEO insights and analysis specific to The Telegraph’s editorial teams.
  • Monitoring and providing analysis on keyword research, link tracking and rank checking. Reporting on performance against benchmarks and proposing improvements or alternative approaches.
  • Making basic SEO amends to articles copy and headlines.
  • Support the content planning and assessment process by providing search insights.
  • Putting forward editorial recommendations, both for headlines and content across three main categories: evergreen content, forward planning, daily news-driven events.
  • Contribute to standard daily and weekly reports on search performance as well as post-event reviews of major projects.
  • Support journalists with understanding SEO to improve optimisation and search traffic to Telegraph.co.uk.


Essential skills required for the role

  • Demonstrable SEO or digital media experience.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Collaborative approach to building relationships with teams across the newsroom.
  • An interest in publishing and news/current affairs.


Additional skills useful for the role

  • Good data analysis skills, with an ability to find and present your insights.
  • Proactive and motivated.
