Logistics Manager E-Commerce

It’s hard to imagine that the first Entertainer store only opened back in 1981. Today The Entertainer is the U.K.’s Largest Independent Toy Retailer. In the UK we operate over 170 UK stores stretched across England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the islands! As a business, we also own the Early Learning Centre and Totally Toys brands, both of which are represented through the UK and international partnerships including Matalan.   Outside of the UK we also manage a chain of toy stores in both Spain and Malta plus a growing number of Entertainer and Early Learning Centre franchise partnerships across the globe. We also own a brand toy supplier Addo Play – which supplies our stores and other retailers across the globe.

Leading the ecommerce team, you will ensure that the operation delivers operational, service and cost targets which support the business in delivering a great customer experience for our online channel 

The role requires an individual who is able to provide strong collaborative leadership to the ecommerce operations.  You will have experience in driving improvements in operational processes in an ecommerce environment to benefit the end customer. You should also be prepared to work at both an operational and more strategic level, be well organised and have a strong problem-solving capability.

Must be up to date with modern processes and a high level of automation experience is essential and hold a current UK driver license with a minimum of one year’s driving experience.

Some national travel will be required.


  • Effective liaison with the online team to ensure commercial plans are understood and appropriate fulfilment capacity is in place.
  • Produce, monitor and delivery of financial budgets and forecasts for the fulfilment operation.
  • Delivery of operational KPIs relating to fulfilment availability, stock accuracy and productivity.
  • Ensure regular reporting of performance KPIs.
  • Develop and lead a right-first-time mindset within the fulfilment team.
  • Establish and lead a continuous improvement programme to deliver improved operational performance.
  • Ensure a fully engaged team, meeting people related targets.
  • Positive relationships developed and maintained with key internal stakeholders to ensure the ecom operations are well represented and that business requirements are understood.
  • Develop and support positive relationships with our logistics providers across the network.

Skills & Experience

  1. Experience in e-commerce operations – either in-house or 3PL, ideally with direct operational accountability.
  2. Experience of retail environment ideally with significant seasonal variability.
  3. Experience of, and enjoy leading operational teams.
  4. Experience of operating a continuous improvement programme.
  5. Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft packages with good Excel skills.
  6. Basic level of lean methodology.
