It's hard to imagine that the first Entertainer store only opened back in 1981. Today The Entertainer is the U.K.’s Largest Independent Toy Retailer. We have over 170 UK stores stretched across England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the islands and we are still growing! We are also partnering with a growing number of retailers to showcase our brand selling our toys in their retail space, and we sell toys online via our website and other partner channels!

As a business, we own the Early Learning Centre, and Totally Toys brands as well as our own brand Addo Play. Outside of the UK we own the Poly Juguetes toy shops in Spain plus numerous Entertainer and Early Learning Centre international franchise partnerships.

You will be responsible for maintaining and reporting on data stored across The Entertainer’s IT estate, as well as supporting our systems (multi-channel, EPOS plus other hosted servers and data stores).  You will act as a key contact in handing over IT projects to the support function, including training of IT Support staff and key business users.

This role will require a bright and enthusiastic individual who has a proven track record of working in a data reporting team supporting all areas of the business. Candidates will need retail experience and a minimum 5 years IT experience of SQL SSIS and SSRS software. Strong communication is key for this role as you will be required to work with all levels of staff and across all departments within the business. You may be required to travel to and from sites and to partner offices.


  • Perform ongoing data analysis and scheduled reporting ensuring data integrity.
  • Create documentation to support handover of projects.
  • Liaise with the wider support team regarding new projects and installations.
  • Report writing/provision of management information, both scheduled and ad-hoc.
  • Provide database and systems support for hosted information servers.
  • Work closely with the IT business team to ensure smooth transition and implementation of new and improved systems.
  • Assist in the training of end users and IT support team.
  • Take an active part in Peak Support & extra reporting commitments.
  • Take an active part in wider IT support escalation processes as required, including some out of hours support.
  • Liaise with Project Managers regarding system testing of new projects.
  • Informing various stakeholders about any problems with the current technical solutions being implemented.
  • Researching current and emerging technologies and proposing changes where needed.

Skills & Experience

  1. Able to download data from multiple systems including Microsoft SQL Server and the ability to manipulate data and use OLAP services
  2. Previous experience of data analysis.
  3. Ability to prioritise when faced with multiple tasks.
  4. Excellent customer service skills and experience of working in a service orientated environment.
  5. Great attention to detail whilst analysing and reconciling data.
  6. Excel Advanced user with the capability to progress to Expert Excel user including macros and some VBA.
  7. Ideally Microsoft SQL skills and/or Microsoft qualification.
  8. Good verbal and written communication skills.
  9. Comfortable training end users and technical staff in the use of systems.
  10. Exposure to multi-channel technologies.
