Providing a waking night presence, you will play a critical role in developing positive relationships with our residential students who range in age from 7- 24 years and who have moderate to severe special education needs. The aim of the role is to assist our students to develop healthy sleeping patterns, build personal daily routines and extend their capacity to be as self- reliant as possible. Part carer part companion, you will provide reassurance and assistance with personal care whilst at the same time being alert to our student's security and well being. Light housekeeping duties and administrative tasks will also be part of the role.
Previous relevant experience in the care or education sector and an appreciation of SEN, autism and complex needs would be desirable but is not essential. Relevant NVQ accreditation is required but this will be provided where necessary. Essentially you will be empathetic, patient and have a tolerance of challenging behaviour.
