Salary: Starting salary £10 per hour (£20,280 per annum (FTE)) rising to £10.50 per hour (£21,294.00 (FTE)) plus generous benefits package, including a £500 welcome payment

Personal Assistant (Support Worker)

Job Purpose

Our Personal Assistants support people to lead full, active and socially connected lives, supporting people to achieve the things that matter to them.

Applicants should have, or be willing to work towards, a qualification meeting the standards required for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).

Job Details

We are looking for a Personal Assistant to join an existing team to support an individual who lives in the Craigmillar, Edinburgh area. This position is for 16 hours per week.

Support is provided on a 1-1 basis. The shift pattern would be one 24 hour shift per week including a sleepover.

About this opportunity

The individual is able to walk short distances & enjoys a stroll around the estate for exercise, longer walks are provided for with a wheelchair in which he enjoys quiet, green spaces & parks to sit & enjoy a drink or snack.

The individual requires personal care & support when in his house & he loves nothing more than to relax with some good music & sensory lights which help keep a calm atmosphere at home.

He also likes to go out for a cup of tea or coffee at local cafes but due to Covid we have had to avoid this for now, but we plan on getting back into more public settings when it is safe for him. 

He doesn’t have many dislikes but he will soon let you know with vocal or physical communication if he doesn’t want to do something.

Applicants should be looking to join the team with a keen, forward thinking approach in which we can come up with ideas to further enrich his day to day life.

He is middle aged & fairly set in his ways but he is usually up for a challenge such as social events & new places we can go for walks as long as there is a cup of tea or juice & a bite to eat at the end of it.
